If you have Aetna dental insurance coverage or any other PPO benefit plans, please let us know before your first appointment. Our team will be happy to help you maximize this coverage. We’re also here to help you if you have questions about your dental insurance plan. Please don’t hesitate to call our knowledgeable dentistry team. We’ll do our best to answer questions over the phone or schedule an appointment for you to visit us in our Midtown East dental office.
Your Aetna Benefit Plan
Your Aetna benefit plan represents a unique agreement to pay a monthly plan premium and receive coverage for a percentage of the cost of your necessary dental care. Every plan is different, and in most cases, patients are able to elect additional coverage in exchange for a higher monthly premium. We’ll need to review your individual policy to provide accurate estimates of the out of pocket cost of dental care, but most Aetna dental patients receive the following coverage:
- Preventive dentistry services – 80 to 100% coverage
- Restorative dentistry services – 50 to 80% coverage
- Orthodontic services – 20 to 70% coverage (when elected)
- Miscellaneous dentistry services – 20 to 50% coverage (when elected, including sedation, mouthguards, etc.)
Maximizing Dental Insurance Coverage
In order to ensure you maintain the optimal level of oral health and maximize your dental insurance coverage, we encourage patients to visit us at least twice a year for dental checkups and teeth cleanings. Most Aetna plans cover the majority of the cost of these visits, and when you keep up with your preventive checkups, you reduce risk for advanced oral health conditions. These serious dental health concerns can lead to a need for advanced treatments that receive lower percentages of coverage from dental benefit providers. Our team can also help you plan for advanced treatments to make the most of your insurance benefits and avoid exceeding annual plan maximums.
In-Network VS Out of Network Dental Care
Because we are dedicated to helping patients maximize their dental insurance coverage, we offer in-network treatment for Aetna benefit plans. That means we agree to Aetna’s plan pricing for your covered dental services, and you will only ever need to pay the out of pocket percentage of dental care. Out of network dentists may charge fees higher than those set by your insurer, but you will need to pay the difference in pricing in addition to your out of pocket percentage of treatment costs. In most cases, these differences in pricing are minimal, but when you choose an in-network dentist the stress of additional cost is completely removed.
